On my son’s first Christmas, we started converting our tree to all non-breakable ornaments. With two fur balls and now two babies, it is one less thing to worry about. So this Christmas we’ve been adding to our collection by making our own ornaments all season long. We marbled paper mache ones here though you could use ceramic or glass with the same affect. All you need is nail polish.

Marbled Ornaments Tutorial
Ingredients
- Plain Ornaments
- Nail Polish
- Water
Instructions
-
Fill a disposable plastic container 3/4 full with room temperature water. The container must be deep enough to submerge the entire ornament.
-
Pour nail polish gently into the water. The more polish you put in the water, the more coverage your ornament gets, though too much will give your ornament a clumpy finish.
-
Gently stir polish with your stir stick to make a marble look on the water.
-
Wearing gloves, dip the ornament entirely into the water and swirl.
-
Hang ornament to dry.
We picked up these paper mache ornaments half off at our local craft store and got dollar store nail polish, so overall this was a very inexpensive craft for my son and I to do. You can use any nail polish color you want though I love the simplicity of black and white. To dry, I hung these on the knobs of our upper cabinets with a paper towel on the counter underneath to catch any drips.

Making your own ornaments with your family makes your tree full of special memories you can revisit year after year. They also make wonderful gifts for family and friends. Hope you give it a try and stick around for more of our twelve days of handmade Christmas crafts countdown.
